“A Case Study of Lean Manufacturing and Its Benefits When Well Executed”
In case you're not on the Lean Enterprise Institute mailing list (and if you're reading this, you should be), here is a Wall St. financial analyst report on Solectron. The report highlights the impact that lean has had on a Solectron plant in Guadalajara and projections on how the company should do if they spread those successes throughout the company.
A report like this (show it to your CFO!) should be reminder that nobody, including Toyota, “does lean” because it's the right thing to do. All of the aspects of lean are meant to drive long-term profitability and financial success. Make sure your lean efforts don't lose sight of that.
