I'll be attending and speaking at three public events in the next few months, twice in Las Vegas and once in Phoenix. Hope to see you there.
First, I will be speaking about Healthcare Kaizen at the Society for Health Systems conference in Vegas February 18 to 21 and the ASQ Lean & Six Sigma conference in Phoenix February 27 to 28.
I'm also fortunate to be part of an outstanding program of speakers at the  Lean Healthcare PowerDay, April 9-10 in Vegas, an event sponsored by Healthcare Performance Partners and MedAssets.
Other speakers at PowerDay include:
- Richard Shannon, M.D., a leader in Lean and healthcare quality/safety (my podcast with him)
- Naida Grunden, talking about Lean-led hospital design  (my previous podcast with her)
I'm honored to be a part of this program, a full day of timely topics and engaging speakers. I'll be talking about the mindsets and management systems from Lean manufacturing that are beneficial in healthcare. We shouldn't copy methods factories literally, but there are some cultural aspects of great  factories that healthcare has been learning from. It's not about “turning the hospital into a factory.” It's about using proven management methods to help hospitals be the best hospital they can be. Read a preview of the talk here.
Will you be attending any of the events? If so, please leave a comment or come say hello.

Mark,
I will be speaking at the SHS conference as well. I am looking forward to your new book and presentation. We are really focusing on daily kaizen at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. We have started in our PICU with engaging all staff in small daily improvements. I hope to have some great examples to share with you at the conference of employees improving patient care.
Take Care,
Isaac
Looking forward to your presentation, Isaac. Also want to hear about what you are doing with kaizen!
I’m really glad to hear that the Lean movement is making it to hospitals. I’m also glad you have 2 events in Las Vegas. As a local Nevadan, it’s much appreciated.
