Good News: How Hospitals Heal Themselves

I purchased and watched this DVD, very worthwhile, even for the $75. You might luck out and see it for free on your local PBS station. It's a very good overview of how the Toyota Production System can be applied to healthcare. It features the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative (PRHI) and many great examples of how lean, TPS, systems thinking, and leadership can fix problems in healthcare – improving patient satisfaction and reducing cost. It's a nice overview video that I plan on using with client teams in the future.

Info on purchasing the DVD can be found at www.managementwisdom.com.

The documentary is hosted by Lloyd Dobbins, who you might remember from the famous NBC Deming documentary from 1980. Additionally, this DVD has the same producers (Clare Crawford-Mason and Bob Mason) as the Deming documentary.
