It's hard to believe it's been two years since my Shingo Award-winning book, The Mistakes That Make Us: Cultivating a Culture of Learning and Innovation, was published.
What started as a podcast–My Favorite Mistake–grew into a book grounded in one powerful belief: mistakes aren't failures to be punished, but signals to be understood. They're starting points for growth, creativity, and problem solving.
As I wrote in the book:
“We shouldn't strive to be mistake-free. We should strive to be mistake-friendly.”
To mark the second birthday of the book, I'm offering a special paperback price: just $10.99 (regularly $19.95). This discount is available for a limited time.

The stories and reflections in the book–from leaders, entrepreneurs, and everyday learners–continue to reinforce a critical message: we can't improve what we hide. And we can't innovate if we're afraid to try, err, and reflect.
“A culture of learning doesn't mean celebrating mistakes–it means recognizing the value in responding constructively to them.”
If you've found value in the book, I'd be grateful if you shared it with a colleague or team. If it's new to you, this is a great time to explore how building psychological safety and embracing mistakes can drive continuous improvement in your organization.
You can learn more at www.mistakesbook.com or find the book directly on Amazon.
Thanks to all of you who have supported this work. Here's to more learning, more reflection, and more progress–one mistake at a time.
