Chris Farley's legendary character Matt Foley might tell me to “shut your big yapper!” as I'm talking a lot the next few days. I was recently in a week-long “doing” mode, as I was coaching teams at a hospital through basic value stream mapping skills, but the next few days are a big talking mode, as I'm doing these free events you can listen to and participate in (updated with audio archive links after the shows):

Webinar 12 noon EST, Thursday, 1/20/11: “Lean Healthcare: Key Steps to a Winning Strategy

In this free webinar, presented by the sponsor FormFast, I will be talking about Lean as a strategy, moving beyond merely implementing tools. I'll be talking about management mindsets and philosophies of Lean that are transferrable to healthcare. Registration link.

Internet radio 1 pm EST, Friday, 1/21/11: Steve Wilson's Quality Conversations

I will be a return guest on Steve's show, this time talking with Mark Sessumes, of TMAC, about an invitation-only event we are planning for the morning of March 11 in the Dallas area. The event is called “Manufacturing Lean Healthcare: Bypass the trial and error approach,” and it's designed to bring together high-level manufacturing executives with significant lean experience together with senior healthcare leaders. We're hoping to get people together in the room and spur some networking relationships (or at least one) that will move lean healthcare forward in the DFW area. Dr. John Toussaint, who was mentored by Dan Ariens and George Koenigsaecker, when he was CEO of ThedaCare. More on this event later today in a separate blog post.
