New Blog Design Launched! PDCA Time…

Hi, this all might seem like “muda” (waste) to many of you who had commented that you liked the old design just fine… but here is the “new” Lean Blog, version 3.0, if you will.

I will get back to value-adding Lean content ASAP. For now, please help me with the launch and the PDCA process.

Email me using the “Contact” button in the top menu or leave a comment if you have feedback, constructive or otherwise. Modeling the style of Toyota leaders, I'll ask “what are the top three problems?” first before asking about what you like. I know old imported comments do not have links to your profile or site. We are going to add those back in for those of you who comment frequently, so please be patient with us.

This will still evolve a lot here as we tweak the site. I know it's different… but hopefully we can all get through the change curve together. Leaving comments works differently than before. Since this is on WordPress, instead of Blogger, your old Google/Blogger log in will not work here. Enter your info in the comments box and, if you have a WordPress.com account, it will display your avatar/photo from there.

For those who like the traditional blog view, click on the Blog link in the top menu and you can bookmark that page.

Let me know what you think, thanks for your patience and support.

The problem with broken links has been resolved, we think. If you find a bad link, please let me know in comments or by using Contact in the top menu.

Mark

  1. Hi Mark!
So far your new design looks quite good, and I am sure it will get even better in the future (continuous improvement, ya know…).
It was a difficult one to deliver (on the third attempt…), you could explain us all what the problems were and what lessons did you learned about it… ;)
That could also be one lean thinking exercise…

  2. Looks great, Mark. Once we get used to the new look, I’m sure we’ll like it. It’s all about change management, right? Just like we teach.

  3. Thanks, Dean. Launching any new process or technology is stressful, as this is proving to be. Things never go 100% according to plan, but the things that are currently broken are being worked on…

  4. Welcome to the WP family, Mark! The site looks great.

A few suggestions (based solely on my personal tastes so take this with a grain of salt).

    1. I’d make the font color of the two “secondary” post titles under the featured post the same dark blue font. Initially, my eyes didn’t know where to look.

    2. I’d experiment with the number of words in the secondary post preview. Right now the words sort of look jumbled together.

    3. Personally, I would probably “sort” the right column a bit more.

  5. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Will continue to make tweaks and will provide new “standardized work” for readers as appropriate.

Ron, we’ll try to tweak the secondary post titles to stand out a bit more.
