USNews.com: Opinion: Capital Commerce: : Should Uncle Sam Help Domestic Manufacturers?

Here's a US News & World Report online piece that mentions our lean friend Kevin Meyer, of the Superfactory website and the Evolving Excellence Blog (where Bill Waddell also thinks Jack Welch is turkey).

That means My Government Over-Extending itself to Put me out of business using my tax dollars.

It’s welfare for busninesses that competes with private sector service providers.

There is a ground-swell of Lean professionals losing work to the MEP’s that are investigating a Class-action suit against the government.

  2. Most MEP’s actually use external small-time consultants. Not sure what the point of a lawsuit would be anyway if funding is being slashed. The situation, if there was one in the first place, would resolve itself.

  3. Hi Dan,

Having spoken with quite a number of different people who are full-time employees or full-time contract employees of MEP’s I beg to differ with you on this point.

Not to mention the fact that subsidies allow them to charge half of my normal rates and advertise on a scale I cannot begin to comprehend.

I’m not sure what you do for a living, but when the US government begins competing directly with you and literally stealing clients away from you, you may see things a bit differently.

Describing some of what has happened to me personally through MEP’s and the business I actually lost to them, would take too much time for this forum.

There is a problem here that is only getting bigger from where I’m standing. I’d bet my left arm the funding will show up as well.

    All the Best,
