New “Lean Hospitals” Discussion Forum

LeanHospitalsBookCoverGraban200 New Lean Hospitals Discussion Forum leanSome of you might remember my attempt at creating a Lean “message board” discussion forum back in 2006. It was active for a while, but usage trailed off — plus LinkedIn groups and the improved LEI Forums serve that purpose very well. So my message board is pretty much a dead project.

I did, though, have someone ask recently if there was a place for online discussion of my book. The old message board had a section for each chapter of my book, but it wasn’t being used. Now that my book has a pretty large reader community, I thought I’d try again with a new Lean Hospitals page on the “Ning” platform — the same platform as my existing Move to Healthcare group for those interesting in bringing their Lean experience into healthcare.

The address is: http://leanhospitals.ning.com/ and a screen shot is below. I hope you’ll give it a try if you want to ask questions about my book and/or interact with other readers.

It was real easy to set up, so let’s see if anything comes of it. I’m willing to participate if you are…

Out of curiosity, why didn’t you create a discussion on Move to Healthcare? I’m still very interested in where all the Ning sites end up, but have trouble signing on to each of them with any level of frequency.

Good question. I considered that and thought there were two separate, but somewhat related purposes for the site. I didn’t want to be seen as pushing my book too hard on those who joined the “Move to Healthcare” group. There is a notification button in the Book Discussion / Forum area that can send you an email when there’s a new discussion, or there’s an RSS feed for new activity if you’d like to receive notifications and not have to go sign in just to check.

I was unable to get to the previous site through my work network, so I had to do so from my personal PC. I’ll have to see how this new one works.

It worked fine – no blocking by the network.
