Is Your Mediocrity an Emergency?

Seth's Blog: The Mediocre Emergency

While Seth Godin is mainly a marketing guru, I like his provocative thoughts. From a lean manufacturing perspective, is it easier to "fix" a factory that has an emergency (such as imminent plant closing) than it is to fix a plant that is just lurching along in mediocrity?

Can you get people to treat their mediocrity as an emergency? The mediocre factory that isn't improving (or isn't lean) is an emergency just waiting to happen. Don't wait until the emergency is here and then wish you had done more!
